Warping a photo with an image editor can have fun results, but a "before and after" animation can have a bigger impact. This is what you can do with Morpheus Photo Warper. Besides exaggerating someone's face and body proportions, you can also create a neat animation, in which the original picture morphes into the end results. Compared to traditional image editors, Morpheus Photo Warper gives you better transformation controls, so your modified images will look more natural.

Morpheus Photo Warper is free to try for a limited period of time, during which you won't encounter any locked functions. The software is available for Windows and Mac OS X platforms and it takes less than a minute to install its core components. It doesn't require any special tools and you won't have to sacrifice too much disk space, RAM or processing power.

The intuitive design of the user interface makes it quite easy to warp pictures. Once you import a picture, the software will display its "before" and "after" states on separate panels. Distortions can be made by placing a series of dots on the "after" image and dragging them. Each dot will stretch the image around it, in the direction in which you drag it. Obviously, you can have a higher precision and avoid rough edges if you add as many dots as you can. The software doesn't have any limitations in this regard. You can add any number of dots, just by selecting an option, located on a toolbar, and clicking on the image.

In certain cases, moving individual dots can be tedious and the results may not be pleasing. Fortunately, the software allows you to connect dots with a line and move them simultaneously. You can also draw lines freely, without connecting any dots. To make them easier to spot and select, dots are colored differently and you can change their size, shape and opacity.

The warping animation can be previewed on an embedded player, on the right side of the user interface. You can review each frame in a timeline, in the lower region of the interface, where you can create new warping animations, in the same project. The animation can be rendered in compressed or uncompressed AVI format, as well as in SWF format. It is also possible to export all frames as separate image files and to export individual frames, in the same formats.

Pros

Pictures can be distorted precisely, without too much effort. The software automatically creates a warping animation, from "before" state of the image to the "after" one. You can render your animations in AVI or SWF format or export one or more frames as separate image files.

Cons

There are no obvious drawbacks to mention. Morpheus Photo Warper gives you the possibility of surprising your friends and family with high quality warping animations.
